Hendra Farm - Four Star Cornish Holiday Cottages. Rural Peace and a warm Cornish Welcome. Pelynt, Looe, Cornwall Tel: 01503 220701

Hendra Farm offers a near perfect location to explore Cornwall...........

being nestled at the head of the idyllic Polperro Valley in South East Cornwall, near Looe. Situated close to the south coast beaches and wilds of Bodmin Moor, there is excellent walking, bird watching and fishing on the doorstep. The farm is more akin to a smallholding, and is home to a number of different animals including Jacob sheep, Shire Horses, a Lusitano horse and a herd of alpacas, not to mention numerous chickens, ducks, dogs and cats!! There is also a wildlife nature reserve pond that is home to an ever changing variety of flora and fauna.

Our aim is to provide our guests with all the modern comforts they have come expect - all located in a clean, safe and tranquil setting. It is important that we seek ways to reduce the impact of modern tourism on the environment and Hendra Farm has introduced practices to meet those requirements, such as monitoring use of resources and energy, using low energy bulbs in all cottages and outside areas, recycling waste and so on.

We hope to introduce (or reintroduce!) guests to the true taste of the wonderful countryside Cornwall has to offer, providing fresh seasonal fruit and vegestables produced here on the premises, therby reducing 'food miles'.

It is our commitment to continually seek ways to introduce new measures to reduce our 'carbon footprint' and to exceed guests' expectations in quality, delivery and cost through continuous improvement and guest interaction.

Our Environmental Policy....

We love Cornwall and we hope the reason for your visit is that either you have come to love Cornwall too, or are about to find out that you do!

Congratulations on choosing one of the finest areas to visit, your taste is unquestionable. On the doorstep are wonderful walks, fishing, birdwatching and close to hand are the stunningly beautiful coastline and ever changing Bodmin Moor. Millions, like you, visit Cornwall each year, many on bikes, most by car.

You will have noticed that Hendra Farm is a clean farm with a fresh feel about it - we work hard to keep it that way. We want Cornwall to remain fresh and clean too, and in order that we 'do our bit' to prove we care about the environment in which we live and earn our keep, these are some of the things we do:

  • We comply with relevant environmental legislation
  • Our fresh water comes from our own supply, here on the farm
  • We monitor our use of energy and resources - oil, gas and electricity, making savings where possible
  • All domestic and green waste is recycled where possible
  • We grow our own fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables to reduce 'food miles'
  • We breed, sell and keep chickens to supply fresh eggs, again reducing 'food miles'
  • There are low energy light bulbs and double glazing in all cottages

If you would like to help reduce your carbon footprint whilst visiting Cornwall, here's some ideas on how:

  • Switch off lights when not needed
  • Close doors
  • Switch off the TV rather than leave it on standby
  • Wash a full load, and use an economy program (don't forget the eco friendly detergent too!)
  • Use our village shops - you could walk to them too!
  • Check out the public transport to visit attractions - let the bus driver take the strain whilst you enjoy the fantastic scenery.
  • Bath with a friend!!!!!!!
