'the finest birds reared with love and care...'
Outdoor reared - Hybrid Laying Hens
Chicken Supreme!
We sell only the finest, outdoor reared, free range hybrid pullets (young hens), at point of lay. They are specifically bred for their superior egg laying abilities, with consistent shell quality and colour. All the breeds have extremely amenable temperaments and are very hardy to the vagaries of the British climate, which make them ideally suited to keeping free range.
The welfare of our birds is paramount to ensure they come to you in peak condition. They are housed in purpose built, well ventilated sheds with thick shavings beds and plenty of perch space. Cleanliness and hygiene is imperative, and they do not have contact with any other birds on the farm, so avoiding the risk of cross contamination. They are are fed top quality, GM free, layers pellets and corn rations.
We usually have some hens in stock but not all the breeds are always available - please contact us to check what we have in.
... the three "Trelawny Gold" chickens we purchased in May 2008 have proved to be excellent quality, as over a twelve month period they have laid at least 350 eggs each, and have continued to lay now into the 16th month. We are so pleased with them, and wouldn't consider going anywhere else than Hendra Farm when we need to re-stock. Many thanks Senara for all your interest in their progress! Sheila & Arthur Gardner

You can purchase any number of hens, although we won't sell you just one if you haven't got any others! When you come to collect your birds you will need to bring a strong box to take them home in - cat carriers are ideal for the job.
